Roller Mills

Grist Roller Mill

Roller Mills are an important piece of the puzzle in any Distillery producing whisky based liquor. An inefficient mill means you’ll be using valuable time and money. At Burns our Roller Mills are designed and fabricated in our local Australian workshop, and are used for the gristing of malted barley or the crushing of cereal […]

Custom Pot Stills

1000 litre Whisky Still

We take a custom approach to creating our Pot Stills – no two distilleries are ever exactly the same. Our systems all have customisation options in the design process, which can be influenced by your building restrictions, finishes, and the approach you’re taking to crafting your spirits. As Burns Welding designs and fabricates all systems […]

Column Still

600 litre combo 10 plate

A Column Still, also known as a Continuous Column, is a more modern approach to spirit distillation, and a common choice in large-scale production facilities or industrial production. Column Stills can be used for neutral spirits such as vodka, gin and commercially-produced bulk ethanol, as well as tequila, rum and whisky. Columns can be built […]

Dual Pot Stills

Equipment »

A Dual Pot Still is used in some distilleries, made up of a Wash Still and a Spirit Still. In this set-up, a Wash Still performs a stripping run where the ethanol present in the wash after fermentation is distilled to collect what’s known as low wines. These are then transferred to the Spirit Still […]

Vodka Pot Still

Equipment »

With vodka being typically distilled to 95% Abv, we recommend a rectification Column Still with at least 18 to 20 plates – the more plates in a column, the higher the Abv. Through a process of allowing vapour to pass along a vapour path, a higher Abv is achieved. Vodka Column Hybrid Pot Stills can […]

Gin Pot Still

300 litre Gin Still

The infusion of botanicals is essential for distilling Gin, and this is done through the addition of a gin basket to your Pot Still. This allows for the infusion of botanical flavours into the vapour. A gin basket can be bypassed if needed, so that your Pot Still can still be used for other spirits […]

Hybrid/Column Still

Equipment »

A Hybrid or Column Still includes the addition of a rectification column, which means your distillery can produce spirits with an Abn above 80%. The higher the column, the higher the Abv that can be achieved. We build our Hybrid Stills from copper or stainless steel. When choosing stainless steel, the bottom and side shell […]

Whisky Pot Still

Equipment »

Whisky Pot Stills can be used where the proof of distilling is between 60% and 80% Abv, ideal for Single Malt Whisky and Brandy. The design consists of the pot, a swan neck, lyne arm and condenser, built with either copper or stainless steel. At Burns, our preference is to use 3mm copper to craft […]
